Happy’s Place may be fictional, but Reba McEntire’s new sitcom is set in the very real city of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Technically, the show was filmed at the Universal Studios Lot in Los Angeles, but Happy’s Place will include a little Tennessee flavor. Shots of the set reveal more than a few Power T logos that fans of the Volunteers will appreciate. WBIR-TV in Knoxville shared a clip of the country star gushing about the Marble City in front of cameras.
“I’ve been to Knoxville performing lots of times, too. So, visiting and even little vacations down there,” McEntire says. “That’s a beautiful part of the country.”
Happy’s Place is set to premiere on October 18 at 8 p.m. on NBC and will begin streaming the next day on Peacock. McEntire is an executive producer and plays the lead role, a woman named Bobbie who inherits her father’s tavern.
The show will reunite her with Melissa Peterman, a former co-star from hit sitcom Reba from the early 2000s. Belissa Escobedo plays Bobbie’s unexpected, surprise half-sister; while McEntire’s real-life boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, also has a role in the show as a short-order cook.
McEntire has revealed she’s recording the theme song for Happy’s Place. Fans of the Voice coach also will get to see her perform on a stage in her fictional restaurant.
