Nicole Kidman is to the red carpet as Carrie Bradshaw is to the silver screen—both are fashion icons in their own right. So, it was every fashion guru’s dream come true when Kidman arrived at the 2024 Gotham Awards in a floral gown worn by Sarah Jessica Parker as Bradshaw in Sex and the City.
On Monday, the actress stepped out for the star-studded event in a black silk vintage Dolce & Gabbana dress with a vibrant, hand-painted floral print made up of pinks, purples, yellow, orange, red, and teal blue colors. A long court train covered with the same flower pattern trailed behind Kidman, who was styled by Jason Bolden and paired the spaghetti strap gown with black pointed-toe pumps and a sparkly black clutch.
Kidman’s signature blonde hair was styled in a voluminous and straight blowout, which was complemented by a deep red lip and a smoky eye.
SATC fans will remember the gown from season 4 of the hit HBO show when Carrie is slated to walk in a fashion show, starring both models and “real people.” The columnist tries on the dress during a fitting, however the piece is ultimately given to Heidi Klum to wear down the runway while Carrie is left in just a bedazzled thong.
Kidman was nominated at Monday’s event for Outstanding Lead Performance for her work in her upcoming movie, Babygirl, which hits theaters—the place we come to for magic—on December 25. Other celebs to grace the red carpet included Zendaya, who wore a side boob-baring Louis Vuitton dress, Pamela Anderson in a butter-yellow gown, and Zoë Kravitz in a cut-out gown and matching scarf.
The film hasn’t even hit the screens yet, and Kidman is already receiving awards season buzz. Earlier this year, Kidman opened up about the bittersweet time she won her first Oscar for The Hours after finalizing her divorce from Tom Cruise. “I was struggling with things in my personal life, yet my professional life was going so well,” she told Dave Karger for his new book, 50 Oscar Nights. “That’s what happens, right?”
“I’m not a big party girl, so I was going to skip the Vanity Fair party, and everyone was like, ‘You’ve got to go. You’ve got to walk through the party carrying your Academy Award,’” she continued. “I said, ‘That just feels like gloating, and it doesn’t feel humble.’ Like, what? You can’t walk through carrying the award! That feels really inappropriate. They’re like, ‘That’s what you do.’”
