King Charles has continued to uphold his royal responsibilities with unwavering dedication, even while undergoing cancer treatment, showcasing a steadfast commitment reminiscent of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe highlighted the King’s determination to stay active despite his health challenges, suggesting it might come at a cost.
“Charles has clearly been giving it his all, but there’s a real concern that he may be overexerting himself. His doctors might have preferred he took more time to rest,” Larcombe noted.
The King’s diagnosis came shortly after his coronation, discovered during a routine procedure for an enlarged prostate. Yet, he has carried on with major royal events, including his prominent role in June’s Trooping the Colour.
Dressed in the ceremonial Irish Guards uniform, Charles led the King’s Birthday Parade, appearing composed though slightly fatigued.
The occasion was also significant for Princess Catherine, marking her return to public engagements following her own cancer diagnosis earlier in the year.
Standing between Charles and Prince William on the palace balcony, Catherine joined her family, dressed in coordinated navy attire.
Her presence was a highlight, with royal commentator Jenny Bond remarking, “Having Catherine by his side was undoubtedly a source of great joy for Charles on such an important day.”
Charles’s approach reflects a deep sense of duty, echoing Queen Elizabeth II’s tireless work ethic. However, royal insiders suggest the late monarch would have likely urged her son to prioritise his health amid the mounting pressures of the role.
Larcombe told OK!: “The Queen would have been dismayed because her son had really hit the ground running as King.
“He was enjoying lots of public walkabouts and handshakes, and everything was going well.
“Then the diagnosis came as a bolt from the blue and completely derailed everything.
“There’s so much respect out there for Charles, and this will have boosted his reputation further and made him more relatable.”
