Cher owned a luxurious property in Aspen, Colorado, during the 1980s. The Aspen home was designed for snowy mountain views and cosy evenings by the fire. Known for its sprawling size and comfortable design, it was an ideal retreat from the fast-paced lifestyle of Los Angeles. This home demonstrated Cher’s love for serene, natural surroundings and allowed her to escape from the spotlight.
Key Biscayne, Florida
In the 1990s, Cher added a beachfront property in Key Biscayne, Florida, to her portfolio. This tropical retreat was a departure from her other properties, offering a more relaxed and private vibe, perfect for a superstar seeking a low-key getaway.
Honolulu, Hawaii
Beyond mainland USA, Cher also owns a property in Hawaii, although this was more of a design project than a place to live. Rather luxuriously, the house sits within the Four Seasons Resort in Hualalai on Hawaii’s Big Island. The main house features just one large bedroom, with five further bedrooms found around a courtyard. It hit the market for just under $11 million in 2019.
London, England
Cher has also spent time living in Europe. With a big fanbase in the UK, it’s not surprising that Cher has spent periods of her career living in London. Though many celebrities of her calibre choose to buy in Highgate (like George Michael), St John’s Wood (like Rihanna) or Notting Hill (like the Beckhams), Cher chose to lay her roots in the rather unlikely area of Wapping. In a recently unearthed interview from Clive Anderson’s 1990s chat show, Cher rebuffed the host about her unusual neighbourhood choice: “It really not handy for anything, but I can rollerblade there, I like my neighbours we have a chat, there is a pub underneath me and everyone sort of just leaves me alone.” It’s unknown whether Cher still owns the penthouse apartment.
Hollywood apartment, Los Angeles
In 2006, Cher bought an apartment in the luxury Sierra Towers in the affluent and trendy neighbourhood in West Hollywood. Sir Elton John, Joan Collins and Sandra Bullock all reportedly own apartments in the building too, which is known for its views over the city. She apparently bought the apartment for $3 million and in 2013 it was on the market for around $5.3 million.
Venice Beach apartment, Los Angeles
Known as one of Cher’s most ‘modest’ houses, the pop star bought this Venice Beach apartment in 2010 for $1.5 million. The house is a simple, white-washed house by the seafront in LA and features a lovely roof deck. Many celebrities own casual apartments on the west side of the city (due to its handy location near the beach) including Julia Roberts and Kate Beckinsale. She sold the house for around a $500,000 profit three years after the purchase.
Beverley Hills cottage, Los Angeles
Cher bought this 3,000-square foot bolthole, built in 1957, in 2013. It featured lots of cute, mock-period features like large fireplaces and beamed ceilings, and many believe it was bought for her son Elijah, who was 36 years old in 2013.
