Here’s an easy and quick recipe to prepare this Assamese dish:
Ingredients For Making Poha Cheela
- 1 cup Poha (flattened rice)
- 1/2 cup curd
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped carrot
- 1/4 cup coriander leaves
- 1-2 finely chopped green chillies
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 1-2 teaspoons oil (for cooking)
Recipe
- First, wash the poha thoroughly and soak it in water for 15 minutes. Then, squeeze out the water and place it on a plate.
- In a large bowl, combine the soaked poha, curd, finely chopped onion, carrot, coriander leaves, green chillies, ginger, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt and mix the ingredients well.
- Heat a non-stick pan and add a small amount of oil. Spread a spoonful of the prepared mixture evenly on the pan.
- Cook until it turns golden and crispy on both sides. Once cooked, remove it from the pan and serve hot Poha Cheela with green chutney or curd.
You can add other vegetables of your choice, such as peas or capsicum, to enhance the flavour. For a low-calorie version, cook the Cheela using water instead of oil.
