Renowned Maharashtrian chef Sarvesh Jadhav has been making a special pizza for years, selling it for just Re 1.
While many people worldwide enjoy eating pizza, some love it but cannot afford it too frequently. A similar incident completely changed the life of this chef from Pune. While walking along the road, he witnessed a scene that deeply inspired him and eventually led him to create a world record.
Sarvesh has crafted the world’s smallest pizzas, known as ‘Button Pizzas’, producing over 8 lakh of them, earning him a place in the Limca Book of World Records. Remarkably, the price of each button pizza is just Re 1.
The Specialty of Rika Cafe
Sarvesh Jadhav runs a cafe called Rika in Pune, where he has created the world’s smallest pizza, measuring just one inch in size. Since 2017, his button pizzas have received overwhelming appreciation. To date, he has produced over 8 lakh of these tiny delights.
Speaking to Local18, Sarvesh shared, “While walking home, I saw two underprivileged children eating food at Goodluck Chowk. They had a burger and half a slice of pizza. I asked them when they would eat pizza again, and they replied, ‘If someone gives it to us, we will eat it’. Their words deeply moved me. I thought to myself, if these children want to eat pizza again, I must make it affordable.”
“Everyone can afford to spend Re 1. That’s when I came up with the idea of button pizza and set its price at just Re 1,” he further added.
The button pizza was specially created to bring joy to underprivileged children. Although crafting such tiny pizzas is challenging, Sarvesh takes immense pride in the joy it brings to his customers.
“This initiative has not only satisfied the hunger of underprivileged children but has also allowed them to eat with dignity and self-respect,” he says.
