If you’ve been using a microfiber cloth for its singular cleaning use, you may want to venture out and tackle other tough household chores to get your home to sparkle. Microfiber cloths are an effective cleaning tool to remove dust and even polish wooden furniture.
Below, we tapped some pros to share their favorite ways of using a microfiber cloth in their cleaning routines.

Wipe Down Electronic Screens
Galia Ivanova, a professional cleaner and the founder of Cleaning Estimate, explains how you can use microfiber cloths to gently wipe down TVs, laptops, and smartphones. Since the cloths have soft fibers, they can easily remove dust and smudges without scratching the screens or leaving any lint behind.

Remove Tough Wall Scruffs
If you notice your walls are covered in dark and unpleasant wall scruffs, it may be time to remove them once and for all without repainting them. Dampen a microfiber cloth and gently rub it over the mark, Rhonda Wilson, the quality lead cleaner at FreshSpace Cleaning, recommends.
For any stained spots, Wilson suggests adding a drop of dish soap or baking soda to your cloth, so it effectively removes it without damaging the paint.
Clean Stainless Steel Appliances
If you’re an avid cooker and use stainless steel appliances the majority of the time, consider using microfiber cloths to keep them fingerprint-free, according to Ivanova. Use a mixture of water and a few drops of vinegar to wipe the appliances down so they shine without any streaks, Ivanova says.
Pick Up Pet Hair
Nobody wants to deal with pet hair on their floors 24/7, especially during the holidays when you have guests over. If you’ve tried vacuuming multiple times and haven’t had much luck, consider dampening a microfiber cloth which will pick up any hair from upholstery and carpets more effectively, Ivanova says.
“Pet owners appreciate this quick and chemical-free solution,” Ivanova explains.
Polish Wooden Furniture
Keep your wooden furniture in tip-top shape by applying some natural oil like lemon oil to your microfiber cloth to buff out the surfaces, Ivanova suggests.
“I buff the surfaces with the cloth, bringing out the wood’s natural shine and protecting it from wear,” Ivanova says.
Attach to a Swiffer
If you’re trying to use a Swiffer and realize you’re all out of the attachable pads, don’t fret and use a microfiber cloth instead. Drape it over the mop head and just tuck it into its gears, Wilson recommends. The best part? After you’re done cleaning, you can use wash and reuse it again.
“Use it dry for dusting or damp for mopping,” Wilson says. “It’s eco-friendly and budget-friendly, too.”
Catch Crumbs in a Drawer
Pesky crumbs left in the corners of your drawers can be challenging to get out over time. Wilson suggests using a dry microfiber cloth to get into those tight spaces and get them clean in no time.
