You could just toss on a few garments and saunter out the door, or you could dress up your fit with some of the biggest winter accessory trends of the season. This year, it’s all about texture and rich tones—think suede gloves and handbags, gemstone jewelry, and scarves that make a statement while keeping you warm. Whether you’re zhuzhing for a date night, getting ready to celebrate at a fun party, or simply walking into the office or grocery store, these trending accessories will have you looking and feeling like you’ve stepped right outside of a glossy fashion mag.
1. Chocolate-Colored Handbags
The classic black bag isn’t completely out of favor, but chocolate-colored handbags have claimed their stake as a top winter accessory trend. Think hues like chestnut, coffee, espresso, and ultra-dark chocolate.
“These rich, dark colors are giving a fresh take on elevated classic style and adding a little more pop to our winter wardrobes,” says Jana Meister, an on-air fashion stylist and influencer. “Handbags in our favorite brown hues with details of suede, faux fur, and leather are making a big statement this year. These deep brown colors have a retro vibe to them and play into the revived hobo trends that have been seen over the last couple seasons.”
2. Natural Gemstones and Beads
Natural gemstone beaded jewelry is forever in style but getting even hotter for winter 2025. “Mother Nature’s candy is having a major moment in deeper gem tones like lapis lazuli, deep green turquoise, caramel and brown agates, and deep purple amethyst,” notes Lisa Salzer, jewelry designer and founder of Lulu Frost. She adds that hand-carved beads—separated by individually hand-knotted silk cording—in monochrome or contrasting colors add a big dose of luxe-factor to any outfit this season, too.
3. Statement Scarves
Scarves are a must for keeping warm through the cold months, but one of winter’s biggest accessory trends is choosing a scarf that makes a statement. “Scarves are stealing the spotlight this year, especially ones with fun details like bows or fringe—they’re everywhere right now,” says Cassidy Montalvo, a stylist and fashion content creator. “They’re such a simple way to add color, pattern, or texture to your outfit without going overboard. Plus, they double as an extra layer of warmth on those extra chilly days.”
4. Bag Bling
From chunky bag clips, paracord tassel charms, and drape-y chain cross-bag jewelry, ‘bag bling’ is taking front and center stage as the top accessory trend of the season. “This trend is heating up because people love to add touches of individual personality to their accessories, and ‘bag bling’ adds the perfect touch of DIY and personal storytelling to one’s handbag collection,” Salzer says. “Adorning nearly everything is emerging as the practice de rigeur, with personalization a key aspect of adding to the cool factor.”
5. Suede Textures
Montalvo says that suede is the texture of the season, cropping up everywhere from handbags to shoes to belts. “Adding texture is one of my favorite tricks to make a look feel polished without overthinking it. I’m here for how it instantly elevates any outfit,” she notes. “Earthy tones like caramel, chocolate, and olive are everywhere this season, and they’re the perfect complement to winter neutrals.”
6. Vintage Bracelets
Winter jewelry trends for 2025 incorporate rich textures and tones, and there’s no better place to get a dose of both than with vintage pieces. Whether you’re going with a western sort of theme filled with earth tones or going for some chunky retro pieces, the idea is to lean into your own personal style and have fun with it.
7. Tiny Purses
Understated minimalism is definitely enjoying a moment in fashion right now, and one place this couldn’t be any more evident is the handbag department. Teeny purses with just enough space for your phone, go-to lippie, and ID card are popping up everywhere as people opt to carry less stuff and embrace simpler living. Say farewell to endless searching and scrounging for that one thing sharing space with crumbs and who-knows-what-else at the bottom of your bag.
8. ’90s Inspired Belts
The ‘90s are right in the middle of a reprise. “With low-rise jeans creeping back—whether we love it or not—belts are reclaiming their moment. From sleek leather styles with bold buckles to edgy chain belts, they’re a fun throwback that feels fresh again,” Montalvo says. “Belts are also a great way to add some structure to oversized winter layers.” She says she’d layer a bold belt over a chunky cardigan or blazer to cinch the waist and give that snatched vibe. Or, lean into full ’90s energy with baggy jeans and a standout belt—it gives effortless, retro chic.
