After her second pregnancy, Sanjukta Patra weighed 82 kg. Over six months, she became slimmer through home exercises and a nutrient-rich dry fruit smoothie
As New Year’s Day approaches, many of you must be thinking about New Year’s resolution. One common item on that list worldwide is to get in shape, lose weight or become healthier in general. Gym memberships zoom up in the first week of January but as the year progresses, many people aren’t able to keep up. This gives way to guilt followed by aggressive dieting, which is in no way healthier.
Instead, simple food and regular exercise can deliver better results. Recently, a YouTuber from Maharashtra shared that she lost 22 kg in six months without going to the gym or adopting difficult diets.
Sanjukta Patra, 36, is a YouTuber who shares cooking recipes on her own channel. Balancing parenthood, work, and personal care, she has become a role model for those striving to stay fit.
After her second pregnancy, Sanjukta weighed 82 kg. Determined to lose the extra weight, she shed 22 kg over six months of hard work. She became slimmer through home exercises and a nutrient-rich dry fruit smoothie.
Struggles With Excess Weight
After giving birth to her second son, Sanjukta weighed 82 kg in October 2023. By April-May 2024, she had reduced her weight to 59-60 kg. During her first pregnancy, she gained weight from 55 kg to 78 kg, but the second pregnancy resulted in even more weight gain. Sanjukta found household chores challenging, and her health started to deteriorate.
Determined to regain her fitness, she decided to run 5 km every day. Despite the initial struggles of balancing family, housework, and YouTube, she lost six kg in the first few weeks. Taking advice from her husband, a marathon runner, she aimed for greater fitness.
Sanjukta’s Diet Plan
Morning: Green tea, or green tea with lemon juice before breakfast.
Breakfast: A dry fruit smoothie made with soaked almonds, walnuts, cashews, figs, and raisins, along with snacks like idli, poha, upma, or dosa.
Lunch: More vegetables and less roti, which she ate only three days a week. She avoided sugar, junk food, and soft drinks.
Dinner: She finished her meal by 7:30 pm and drank green tea with lemon before bed.
Fasting: She fasted for 3-4 days a month as part of her spiritual practice.
Routine
Sanjukta also shared her routine:
Morning: Sanjukta would take her daughter to school by bus, then walk 2-3 km every day.
Housework: She stayed active throughout the day by doing all the household chores herself.
Evening: She followed some exercise routines, including jogging, jumping jacks, and watching YouTube.
Night: At 9 pm, she would go for a 30-minute walk with her children and husband.
Sanjukta followed this regimen five days a week. Overall, her journey demonstrates that with discipline and dedication, anything is possible.
