Malaika Arora’s paneer thecha is one of the star attractions on the menu of her restaurant – Scarlett House. Here’s how you can make this dish at home.
Actor Malaika Arora is a big-time foodie. Despite being a fitness enthusiast, the actor never shies away from indulging herself in some of the most decadent flavours and delicious dishes. Her love for food recently led her to open a new restaurant in Pali Village, Bandra, along with her son Arhaan.
The restaurant offers a variety of cuisines including some of Malaika’s favourite dishes as well. One of the star attractions on the menu is the Paneer Thecha which uses the traditional Maharashtrian flavours to create a delectable dish. In a recent interview with Curly Tales, the actor mentioned how the dish is a staple in her house and how she makes it regularly.
Malaika’s Paneer Thecha blends the spiciness of the thecha marinade with the juicy proteins found in paneer. The dish is perfect for days when you want something spicy but do not want to binge eat junk food. Here’s how you can make the dish at home.
Ingredients
- 6 to 7 green chillies
- 10 to 15 cloves of garlic
- Coarse salt (to taste)
- 1/4 cup peanuts
- Fresh coriander & coriander stems (a generous amount)
- ½ lime (juiced)
- 200g paneer
- Oil
Method
- 1. Heat a pan on medium flame and dry roast the green chillies, garlic cloves, and peanuts.
- 2. As the chillies and garlic roast on the pan, roughly chop the fresh coriander and coriander stems.
- 3. Once the chillies, garlic, and peanuts are roasted, let them cool slightly. Grind them coarsely in a mortar pestle or food processor. Add salt to taste and lime juice.
- 4. Coat paneer cubes with the thecha marinade.
- 5. Add the marinated paneer to a pan. Cook till crispy and golden.
- 6. Garnish with a squeeze of lemon juice and serve hot.
