Kumbh Mela 2025: The Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the most significant religious gatherings in Hinduism. It is held every 12 years. This year, the Maha Kumbh Mela is set to take place in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, drawing millions of devotees, sadhus, and tourists from around the globe.
Pilgrims and devotees planning to visit Prayagraj during the Maha Kumbh 2025, can look forward to several cultural events and celebrity performances at the sacred fathering highlighting our spirituality and tradition.
Several Bollywood stars and famous artists are expected to captivate guests with their performances, covering stories from the Ramayan, Mahabharat and the divine importance of Kumbh.

Here are some of the cultural events and performances that devotees can witness at the Maha Kumbh 2025:
Ramlila
On January 18 and February 14, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will present Ramlilas with folk dances from several countries. On February 15 and 16, Shriram Bharti Kala Kendra will also perform its well-known Ramlila at the Maha Kumbh.
Additionally, Shalini Khare from Madhya Pradesh will depict the Ramayana through Kathak on February 22.
Dance Performances
As a part of the cultural performances, Odisha’s Prince Group will offer a Dashavatar dance performance on January 11, while Mathura’s Madhava Band and Agra’s Crazy Hoppers will be performing on January 16.
This will be followed by a performance of Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej on January 17 and Kolkata’s Golden Girls on January 19.
Manipur’s Bastar Band and Delhi-based Shrinkhala Dance Academy will perform on January 21 and January 27 respectively.
Poems
For poetry lovers, the Maha Kumbh 2025 celebrations will also include a Poetic Symposium with renowned poets across the country taking part in it on January 20.
Choreographed Shows: On January 24, devotees can experience choreographed shows by ‘UP Folk Night’ as well as cultural performances from several states. Famous flautist Rakesh Chaurasia will perform for devotees on February 18.
Documentaries
The Union and state governments also plan to show cultural documentaries to help tourists learn more about the Maha Kumbh Mela’s rich history.
Students of the National School of Drama (NSD) will also be performing cultural performances such as Samudramanthan and other plays inspired by the Kumbh Mela.
Art and History
The Archaeological Survey of India will be collaborating with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts and various other museums to curate a predominantly digital exhibition showcasing Kumbh traditions from around the country. The display will contain rare manuscripts and images that will provide more details of the mela’s history.
Celebrity Performances
On January 25, actor Ashutosh Rana will captivate the audiences with his stage play Hamare Ram, in which he will be seen playing Raavan, while actress and BJP MP Hema Malini will enchant the audience with her dance drama Ganga Avtaran on January 26.
On February 8, actor and politician Ravi Kishan will be performing Shiv Tandav and actor Puneet Issar will bring the epic Mahabharat to life on February 21.
Musical Journey
Several musical bands including Indian Ocean, Agni Band, Mumbai’s Maati Bani Band and a Sufi Band Thaikkudam Bridge will also be performing at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2024.
The cultural activities will conclude on February 23 with the film ‘Kumbh Gatha,’ produced by Reliance Entertainment and Sobo Film.
Notably, the Cultural events will take place at the Ganga Pandal, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Culture Department in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Culture to celebrate India’s rich heritage and traditions.
