Barrel jeans might look difficult to pull off, but when they hit, they hit. The curved, wide-leg silhouette lends an editorial edge to any outfit, making even the simplest pieces in your collection—white tees, bomber jackets, light cardigans—pop. (This category is also a catchall for balloon jeans, horseshoe jeans, and curved jeans, all similar silhouettes with the same impact.) To offset their extreme volume, keep everything above the waist more fitted, and don’t feel the need to go overboard on layers or accessories. Dip your toes in with Madewell’s and Free Assembly’s low-key options; go all-in with Free People’s and Abercrombie’s super-popular cuts.
2. Denim on denim
The best way to wear jeans this year might just be to commit totally. As I mentioned before, Fashion Month was awash in all-denim outfits that proved the material is easy to dress up; brands like Ralph Lauren, Ganni, Rachel Comey, and Marimekko followed suit on their spring runways with equally chic ensembles. Thankfully, you don’t need to go designer to get the look—just buy a matching denim set (or mix and match pieces from your own closet) and you’re good to go for 2025. Don’t forget the accessories, though; a well-deployed bag, necktie, or leather belt will make your look feel more lived-in.
