The injectables market continues to reshape the dermatology vertical, blending science and precision to address modern beauty aspirations
The global facial injectable market has seen unprecedented growth, valued at USD 11.60 billion in 2023 and projected to expand to USD 33.63 billion by 2032, reflecting a robust CAGR of 12.6% during this period. This surge can be attributed to multiple factors, including the increasing acceptance of injectables among men, spurred by social media’s influence and technological advancements. These changes have shifted societal perceptions, encouraging a broader demographic to explore aesthetic procedures. And of course, rising disposable incomes and more affordable treatment options have made these procedures accessible to a larger population.
An essential driver of this market’s expansion has been the growing number of FDA approvals for facial injectables. These regulatory advancements have not only reassured consumers about safety and efficacy but have also stimulated innovation, enabling the introduction of treatments that cater to diverse and evolving consumer needs.
In India, the facial injectable market reflects this global trend, growing at an even faster rate. Generating USD 232.9 million in 2023, the market is forecast to reach USD 618.8 million by 2030, achieving a CAGR of 15% from 2024 to 2030.
Hyaluronic acid-based treatments have emerged as the fastest-growing segment, driven by their ability to hydrate and revitalize the skin. According to the ISAPS 2022 report, nearly 176,899 injectable procedures were performed in India, with botulinum toxin accounting for 96,368 treatments and hyaluronic acid injections for approximately 71,734 procedures. This growth is further supported by India’s competitive pricing, which is about one-tenth of that in the U.S., making it an attractive destination for medical tourism.
Consumer attitudes toward aesthetics have evolved significantly over the past few decades. Aesthetic procedures are no longer viewed as luxury indulgences but as part of a self-care routine that promotes confidence, well-being, and skin health. Millennials and men, in particular, are increasingly embracing these treatments, with younger individuals opting for injectables in their 20s and 30s to prevent the early signs of aging.
Highlighting the efficacy of modern treatments, Dr Sonali Kohli, MD, Consultant Dermatologist, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital explains, “Bio remodeling is a suitable option for those looking to combine hydration with long-term skin revitalization. Bio remodeling procedures like Profhilo, which utilizes ultra-pure hyaluronic acid, deliver sustained hydration internally while encouraging the skin to repair and renew itself. The technique triggers elastin and collagen generation, thereby enhancing skin quality, appearance, and firmness without adding volume. It can be used for treating various areas including the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Dr Meghna Gupta, MD Dermatology, Medical Director & Senior Consultant, Delhi Skin Centre, New Delhi shares his perspective on another noteworthy innovation in this space. “Alma Opus is a skin resurfacing treatment that can improve the appearance of acne scars. Radiofrequency (RF), offering precise control over energy delivery. Treatments like Alma Opus are gaining popularity due to its plasma and radio frequency techniques and for their ability to tighten skin, reduce scars, and improve texture by stimulating collagen and elastin production. Collagen-stimulating fillers are also in demand for their dual-action benefits, providing immediate volume while encouraging natural collagen growth. These fillers are particularly effective for addressing moderate to severe wrinkles and restoring volume in areas like the cheeks and jawline.”
Micro-Botox is an additional technique gaining traction. Known as meso-botox, this procedure uses diluted doses of botulinum toxin injected superficially into the dermis. Unlike traditional botox treatments, its purpose is to refine skin texture, minimize pores, and reduce oil production. This innovative approach pairs well with dermal fillers and skin boosters, offering comprehensive skin rejuvenation.
The injectables market continues to reshape the dermatology vertical, blending science and precision to address modern beauty aspirations. However, as the industry grows, it remains essential for consumers to understand their unique skin needs and consult licensed practitioners to achieve their desired outcomes safely and effectively.
