On 26 January, 1950, India officially adopted its Constitution, becoming a republic and marking the beginning of its democratic journey. Republic Day celebrates this pivotal moment, and this year, India commemorates 76 years of being a republic.

The Doodle, created by Pune-based guest artist Rohan Dahotre, beautifully captures the essence of this historic day with a depiction of the Republic Day parade. The illustration showcases various animals, each symbolizing different regions of India. These animals represent the country’s diverse landscapes, cultures, and wildlife, celebrating India’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
The Republic Day Parade, held annually on Kartavya Path (formerly Rajpath) in New Delhi, is one of the most anticipated events in the country. Thousands of spectators gather to witness this grand spectacle, which stretches several kilometres and features a march by the Indian armed forces, vibrant floats, cultural performances, and impressive displays of military strength. The parade is a visual feast that celebrates the nation’s achievements in various fields, from defence to culture, education, and technology.
In addition to the military contingents, the parade features colourful floats from different states of India, each telling a story of the region’s history, traditions, and accomplishments.
