Jolene By The Sea is a stunning cliffside restaurant in Goa, blending global flavors, bohemian elegance, and breathtaking ocean views.
Amrita Arora and her husband, Shakeel Ladak, have embarked on an exciting new venture with the launch of Jolene By The Sea, a stunning beachside restaurant in Goa. Nestled atop a cliff overlooking Anjuna Beach, the restaurant draws inspiration from their global travels and love for laid-back luxury. As a nod to the iconic Dolly Parton song, the name Jolene reflects both strength and vulnerability—qualities that resonate with Amrita.
A Scenic Culinary Escape in Anjuna
Designed as a high-end dining destination, Jolene By The Sea combines breathtaking ocean views with an eclectic menu curated by renowned chef Suvir Saran. Amrita and Shakeel are at the helm of this project, joined by veteran restaurateurs Gaurav Batra and Ankit Tayal as co-founders. Conceived during the pandemic, the restaurant offers comfort-driven global cuisine infused with bold flavors, all set against a tropical, bohemian-inspired backdrop.
The space, envisioned by interior designer Ayushi Malik, is an architectural delight. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interiors with natural light, while a sea-facing outdoor deck features cozy gazebos and a casual lounge area. High ceilings, rustic wooden furniture, oversized chandeliers, and flowing sand-colored curtains create an effortlessly elegant atmosphere. Lush greenery, including towering palm trees, enhances the breezy, coastal charm.
The Story Behind the Name
In an interview with Vogue, Amrita shared how the restaurant found its name. “It’s one of my favorite songs and an ode to strong women who are also vulnerable,” she explained. The idea struck serendipitously—while copying the raw menu from her phone onto paper, she had music playing in the background. Just as Shakeel asked her to finalize a name, Jolene began to play. The moment felt destined, and the name stuck.

Interestingly, Amrita isn’t the only one making waves in the hospitality industry. Her sister, Malaika Arora, recently launched Scarlett House in Mumbai, a charming eatery set within a 90-year-old Indo-Portuguese bungalow in Bandra. The project is a collaboration with her son, Arhaan Khan, blending history with contemporary dining.
With Jolene By The Sea, Amrita and Shakeel have created more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience that blends coastal beauty, warm hospitality, and a touch of nostalgia, making it a must-visit destination in Goa.
