Rihanna makes sure she is always there for A$AP Rocky.
The popstar made a public appearance at the Los Angeles Superior Court on January 29 to support her partner, as he faces trial for 2022 assault charges.
The Fenty Beauty founder arrived dressed in an all-black ensemble to stand by the rapper, with whom she shares two sons—RZA Athelston, 2, and Riot Rose, 17 months.
A$AP Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, is currently on trial for two felony assault charges related to an alleged altercation with former friend Terell Ephron in 2021.
Ephron, who was part of A$AP’s former music collective and performs under the name A$AP Relli, has accused the rapper of firing a handgun at him during an incident on a Hollywood sidewalk.
“You will hear that throughout their relationship there was tension between the two of them,” Ephron’s lawyer, Paul Przelomiec, stated during a January 28 court session, according to the Associated Press.
“And that tension was essentially building up to the night of Nov. 6, 2021.”
A$AP Rocky, 36, has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to the charges. According to ABC News 7, he could face up to 24 years in prison if convicted.
“This case is about one man’s jealousy, lies and greed—and that man is not Rocky,” A$AP’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, said in his opening statement on January 28, per the Associated Press. “This case is all about money. I’ve said it once, twice. I’ll say it a few more times.”
Rihanna’s presence in court is consistent with the unwavering support she has shown A$AP Rocky throughout their relationship. The Needed Me singer, who confirmed their romance in 2019, has previously emphasized the importance of family.
“They bring purpose to every aspect of my life,” Rihanna told E! News in April. “Everything has to be intentional, and everything has to be worth it—especially when it takes me away from them.”
