We all know Joanna Gaines can decorate a house, and her Target collections for Magnolia seemingly never disappoint. Her chic taste doesn’t only apply to her designs — apparently, it spans all the way down to her workout shoes.
Last week, Gaines posted an Instagram video showing her completing one of her gym workouts, writing that she’s “never felt stronger.” While she showed us a few of the 50 push-ups she did that session, we couldn’t help but notice the Hoka Clifton 9 sneakers. Known for their balanced yet comfortable design, these are the perfect shoes to buy if you’re looking to boost your activity this year.
Hoka Clifton 9
The Hoka Clifton 9 is a standout shoe that both Gaines and EatingWell editors love. It was designed for running and walking, so it’s great for neighborhood walks or beating your personal best record. The cushion at the shoe’s base is balanced and plush, which is perfect if you want a little extra cushion without a thick sole.
The shoe’s stability is neutral, so it will work for most folks without specialized targeting for conditions like plantar fasciitis. The upper is breathable yet secure, so you can move with confidence.
Nutrition editor Jessica Ball swears by the Clifton 9 sneaker for all of those reasons, noting that they’re “comfortable and protective but also light.” She wore the running shoes a few years ago for a half-ironman triathlon. “I’m convinced these shoes are one of the main reasons I didn’t have any injuries during my training! I’m on to my second pair and am still just as happy with them as I was on Day 1,” Ball says.
The sneakers come in several colors, and we believe Gaines is wearing the vanilla/astral shade. They’re also available in wide sizes if you prefer some extra breathing room.
In the Instagram video caption, Gaines shared how much she’d grown since September, starting with an “it’s too hard” mindset. After months of progress, she confidently writes, “I’m ready to go! Who’s with me?” If that’s you, these sneakers might be the ticket to help you get there. Shop them on Hoka’s website now.
