I saw Alix Earle wearing skinny jeans, so I’m wearing skinny jeans. Well, not exactly, but it’s safe to say her recent collaboration with Frame—”The Alix” skinny jeans are already waitlisted—is the reason behind the resurgence of skinny jeans across my For You Page this week.
The collaboration with the Gen Z social media star is uniting, in a way, given how divisive skinny jeans have been across generations over the past few years. (While many millennials have chosen to keep skinny jeans as their go-to denim, Gen Z has been deeming them “out” for years.) But no matter which age group you fall into, the question we’re facing now isn’t whether or not you’re wearing skinny jeans—it’s whether or not it’s possible to make them look cool again in 2025.
Looking to bring your skinny jeans back into your rotation? Read on for 7 cool ways to style them.
7 Ways to Style Skinny Jeans in 2025
1. With a Leather Trench and Knee-High Boots
If you know me, you know I’ve been living in my favorite knee-high boots all winter, so I’m all for skinny jeans if they give me another way to style them. The key to pairing your skinnies with knee-highs, though, is to nail the right proportions. Since the skinny jeans and knee-high boots will hug your bottom-half, opting for a looser top—or in this case, a tighter top with an oversized jacket—helps to balance out the look.
2. With a Cape Coat and Pointed-Toe Booties
The right skinny jeans have the power to give my 5’3” frame the illusion of someone five inches taller, so you can only imagine what happens when I throw a heeled, pointed-toe boot into the mix (hello, height!). As with the knee-high boots, you’ll want to balance out the slimmer bottom-half of this look with a more oversized fit up top. In this case, a trendy, poncho-style, cape coat will do just the trick. Bonus points if you can include Pantone’s color of the year, Mocha Mousse.
3. With a Work-Style Blazer and Leather Loafers
As a stylist, I often work with women who struggle to get dressed in a post-COVID work environment. We’re not exactly wearing pantsuits anymore, nor are we opting for looks as casual as just jeans and a tee. My solution? Find ways to dress up your jeans (if your office allows, of course). In this instance, she’s swapped her slacks for skinnies and kept everything else the same—a juxtaposition so stylish, you’ll be the talk of the watercooler chat.
4. With a Classic Turtleneck and Statement Shoes
My rule of thumb when styling skinny jeans? The simpler, the better—though that’s not to say that we can’t still show some personality in our styling. The classic combo of your skinny jeans, a turtleneck, and your favorite trench coat can be taken up a notch with the addition of statement shoes. Though you can opt for any color or pattern in your closet, I’m partial to animal print.
5. With a Baseball Hat and an Oversized Blazer
Ah, the power of a baseball hat. When styled correctly—ahem, this insanely chic look—one can
take any formal, office-ready outfit and turn it into an effortless, off-duty look. To further solidify that “oh, thanks, this old thing?” attitude, I like that she’s chosen to go with a more oversized bag and blazer—the perfect addition to a more fitted base.
6. With a Chunky Sweater and Slim-Fit Sneakers

When all else fails, a foolproof way to style your skinny jeans is with a simple sweater-and-sneaker combo. I love how the above look incorporates a skinny-straight jean, oversized sweater, and slim-fit sneakers. Add your favorite accessories, and you’ve got yourself a new day-off uniform.
7. With a Wool Coat and Cool-Girl Accessories
As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, I’m living for a long coat and skinny jean sighting. The unexpected combo gives off a luxe, feminine feel, perfect for bopping around between meetings or running the usual midday errands. The range of casual and elevated accents makes this look feel appropriate for just about any activity.
