This is Leighton Meester’s rom-com and we’re all just living in it.
On February 8, the Gossip Girl star attended the 2025 Critics Choice Awards alongside her husband of 11 years, Adam Brody. While he ended up taking home the award for best actor in a comedy series for his role as the hot Rabbi in Nobody Wants This, Meester looked every bit the romantic lead in a sparkling sheer corset gown and freshly cut blunt bangs.
This red carpet appearance comes just one month after Meester attended the Golden Globes in a drapey sequins dress, keeping her hair up in a simple bun with eyebrow-length curtain bangs that blended into wispy face-framing pieces. While she opted for another bun for her most recent appearance, her bangs are significantly shorter and cut straight across her forehead.
Though one might be tempted to describe these as baby bangs, Meester’s fringe was not cut as far above her brow as the look we associate with Audrey Hepburn. Instead, I was instantly reminded of Keira Knightley’s bangs in Pride & Prejudice (2005), minus the British actor’s own face-framing strands.
This is particularly fitting given that Meester is about to star in a period piece of her very own. Back in October, Apple TV+ announced the 38-year-old actor will be joining the cast of The Buccaneers in season two.
Fictional worlds aside, Leighton Meester’s relationship with Adam Brody is full of romantic grand gestures. On February 7, Brody thanked his wife profusely in his emotional acceptance speech, saying, “My darling, darling, darling wife, Leighton. Thank you for sharing this life with me, and this journey with me. Thank you for our family. Love you with all my heart.”
