Prince William and Princess Kate will be absent from this year’s BAFTA Film Awards, Kensington Palace has confirmed.
The Prince of Wales, who serves as BAFTA President, is prioritising his commitment to supporting the next generation of British filmmakers.
While he attended the ceremony last year, William was never scheduled to appear at the 2025 event. Instead, he will feature in a special video segment during the awards.
As part of his ongoing efforts to champion emerging talent, the prince is set to visit the London Screen Academy in Islington on Wednesday.
There, he will engage with Year 13 students working on a collaborative filmmaking project, gaining firsthand insight into their creative process.
During his visit, Prince William will observe hair and makeup teams at work, explore costume design for the production, and even step onto the set to assist in filming a scene for the student-led short film Melomania.
His absence from the BAFTAs underscores his dedication to fostering innovation in the British film industry, ensuring that aspiring filmmakers receive the mentorship and opportunities needed to thrive.
