Anthony Mackie, whose character Sam Wilson took over as Captain America from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers in Captain America: Brave New World, spilled some beans about the Avengers reunion.
In an interview with Deadline ahead of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the 46-year-old opened up about how many Avengers might return for the two highly anticipated movies.
He revealed he doesn’t know how many of the original Avengers will make a comeback, “I don’t know how many are coming back.”
“RDJ [ Robert Downey Jr.] made the big announcement that he’s coming back. Other than hi, I don’t know who the original crew will be coming back, “the American actor explained.
As the only original member left in the squad, Anthony, who debuted as the lead in the Marvel movie released on Tuesday, February 11, teased that he now has the power to decide which Avengers will join him on his team.
Referring to the new trailer, Anthony added, “As you can see Ross is like, ‘I want you to start up The Avengers.’ So, I have to figure out who’s going to be the new Avengers.”
“That’s the perk of being Captain America,” he added with a satisfied grin. “I get to pick who I want to hang out with.”
For those curious, he also shared that shooting for Avengers: Doomsday will begin in March or April, with release date schedule for next summer.
“We shoot in London through the summer, and then the following summer we shoot the next one [Avengers: Secret Wars]. It’s going to be a full slate,” Anthony disclosed.
