In ancient India, medicinal herbs treated every ailment, maintaining the body’s health. Even today, numerous Ayurvedic medicines can relieve varied diseases. One such herb that possesses the potential to cure several ailments is liquorice or mulethi.
In conversation with Local18, Ayurvedic medicine consultant Dr Ashish Gupta stated that mulethi is an exceptional medicine, offering a multitude of benefits to the body and curing various diseases. Liquorice, typically consumed as a decoction, effectively cures sore throats.
Mulethi proves beneficial for individuals suffering from coughs and digestive problems. It acts as a panacea for coughs, even eradicating chronic coughs from the root.
Dr Gupta explains that mulethi decoction and tea offer significant benefits to the body. If an individual is unable to prepare or consume the liquorice decoction, they can chew on a piece of liquorice, which is equally beneficial.
Additionally, mixing mulethi powder with lukewarm water or buttermilk aids digestion and strengthens the digestive system. It is particularly effective in addressing digestive issues like acidity, ulcers, and stomach pain. It safeguards the stomach’s inner lining and reduces acidity.
Mulethi is also a good addition to skin care due to its anti – inflammatory properties. Face packs can be created by blending liquorice powder with milk or rose water to deal with issues like acne and hyperpigmentation.
