Martha has been a household name for more than five decades. Now, she’s giving viewers a fresh look into her illustrious life and career in her new Netflix documentary—simply titled Martha—which drops on October 30.
Directed by RJ Cutler, Martha chronicles our founder’s “unstoppable rise, sudden fall, and hard-won comeback,” forever solidifying herself as the doyenne of life’s good things. The nearly two-hour-long documentary takes viewers through Martha’s life, from teenage model to the “original influencer,” TV show host, and America’s first self-made female billionaire.
The candid documentary features intimate interviews with Martha as well as quotes from her inner circle and never-before-seen footage from our founder’s personal archives. “I’m strict and I’m demanding and I’m all those good things that make a successful person,” Martha says in the teaser trailer.
Viewers will learn new details about Martha’s life and reacquaint themselves with the lessons she’s been teaching for years, including her two signature life mottos: “Learn something new every day,” and “When you’re through changing, you’re through.”
Martha has used these mantras to remain culturally relevant throughout her decades-long career. Whether you know her as a homemaker, Snoop Dogg’s best friend, or Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover star, Martha’s ability to continually reinvent herself has solidified her as a cultural icon. “The cooker-cutter house and the cookie-cutter life was not for me,” she says in the trailer for Martha, adding that she’s “so happy” her life went in a different direction.
