In winter season, people travel from far and wide to witness the stunning view of the Winter Line in Mussoorie, the ‘Queen of the Hills’ in Uttarakhand. The Mussoorie Winter Line Carnival will be organised for tourists from December 26 to December 30, offering a glimpse into the vibrant culture of Uttarakhand.
The event will showcase the essence of the mountains through hill-inspired flavours and music. The enchanting view of the Winter Line amidst the crisp air, lush green forests, and tranquil surroundings at night is sure to captivate visitors.
Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal told Local18 that the district administration, tourism department, and local authorities are set to organise the Mussoorie Winter Line Carnival in the last week of December. The carnival will highlight the colourful and diverse culture of Uttarakhand. Cultural programmes representing the Garhwal, Kumaoni, Bhotiya, and Jaunsari traditions will be organised, and visitors will have the chance to savour traditional Uttarakhand cuisine.
Real-Time Parking App Enhances Tourist Experience
The natural beauty of Mussoorie combined with the mesmerising views of Winter Line and traditional Uttarakhand music and dance, promises an unforgettable experience for tourists. To ensure a smooth visit, the administration has made preparations months in advance, including satellite parking, shuttle services, and golf carts.
Infrastructure enhancements, such as murals, ‘Hawa Ghar’ (air shelters), railings, and anti-polo barriers on Mall Road, have also been completed under the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority. For the first time, tourists will benefit from a real-time parking app to ease their travel experience.
What Is Winter Line?
The Winter Line is a rare and breath-taking natural phenomenon visible from only a few places in the world. Environmentalists explain that at certain hill stations, from November to February, after sunset, a striking red-orange line appears in the western sky. This unique phenomenon, known as the Winter Line, can be observed from Mussoorie and Nainital in Uttarakhand. Additionally, it can be admired from Switzerland, parts of Africa, and Cape Town.
