Many individuals maintain their health by exercising every morning through activities such as jogging, cycling, or swimming. But do you want to know which of these three has the greatest impact?
In today’s technological era, reduced physical activity has led even young people to fall prey to serious illnesses. However, many individuals maintain their health by exercising every morning through activities such as jogging, cycling, or swimming. But which of these three is the best form of exercise and has the most impact? Here’s what fitness coaches say.
Speaking to Local18, fitness coach Manpreet Kaur said, “Most people are succumbing to various minor and major illnesses due to their busy and sedentary lifestyles. These include obesity, fatty liver, joint pain, heart and lung diseases, breathing problems, and severe conditions like cancer. To prevent or alleviate these issues, some form of physical exercise is essential. Jogging, cycling, or swimming are all effective options.”
She further explained that cycling is considered a low-impact exercise, making it suitable for people of all ages. It helps prevent numerous diseases and should ideally be done for at least 5-6 kilometres daily. Cycling strengthens muscles, bones, and tendons while burning excess calories and fat.
It also provides relief from conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, stress, Alzheimer’s, and abdominal fat. According to research, cycling is particularly beneficial for recovery during or after cancer treatment.
Regarding swimming, Kaur said, “Swimming is excellent for both physical and mental health. While swimming, water pressure is distributed evenly across the body, acting as a form of therapy. This helps the body burn calories quickly, keeping weight under control and strengthening the cardiovascular system, heart, and lungs. It also alleviates breathing issues and conditions like asthma, insomnia, mental stress, joint pain, muscle stiffness, and soreness. Swimming also makes the body flexible. Swimming for 30 to 60 minutes daily improves overall health and protects against serious illnesses.”
She added that swimming is safe and highly beneficial during pregnancy or for individuals with disabilities, making it one of the most well-rounded exercises.
