The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj is poised to be a monumental gathering, with over 4,600 organizations setting up camps to serve the anticipated influx of pilgrims. Among these, ISKCON Dwarka, also known as Rukmini Dwarikadhish Temple, is preparing to distribute 60,000 plates of prasādam daily, increasing to 200,000 plates on Amrit Snan days. This initiative ensures that not only pilgrims, but also sanitation workers, bus drivers, and conductors, receive nourishing meals.
To enhance accessibility, ISKCON Dwarka plans to operate 50 golf carts to assist divyang individuals, the elderly, and women with children in navigating the expansive Mela grounds. Additionally, the organization aims to distribute 1 to 1.5 million copies of spiritual literature, including the Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā, free of cost. Daily Harinam Sankirtana processions with bullock carts and a dedicated Yajna Shala for Vedic rituals are also part of their comprehensive service offerings.
“In line with its mission to spread spiritual knowledge, ISKCON Dwarka plans to distribute 10-15 lakh copies of books, including the Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā, free of charge. This massive effort underscores the organization’s commitment to making spiritual literature widely available,” said Pradyumna Priya Das, president of ISKCON Dwarka.
Other notable organizations are contributing significantly to the event’s success. The Akshaya Patra Foundation, renowned for its large-scale meal programs, is set to serve thousands of devotees through its community kitchens. Similarly, the Om Namah Shivay organization is preparing to run one of the largest Annakshetras (food distribution centers) during the Mela, emphasizing the importance of service and penance at this sacred site.
Collectively, these efforts underscore a unified commitment to service, spirituality, and community welfare, ensuring that the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is not only a religious congregation but also a testament to humanity’s collective endeavor to support and uplift one another.
Vijay Vishwas Pant, Commissioner of Prayagraj Division, stated that the Maha Kumbh in January is anticipated to attract participation from 8,000 to 10,000 organizations, with hundreds offering free meals through bhandaras and langars.
