Kumbh Mela 2025: The Mahakumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj has brought together millions of devotees but among the sea of faith and rituals, one man is truly stealing the show. Known as Anaaj Wale Baba, this yogi from Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district has become a living symbol of environmental awareness, by growing actual crops on his head.
Yes, you read that right.
Anaaj Wale Baba, whose real name is Amarjeet, has turned his head into a fertile patch, cultivating wheat, millet, gram and peas for over five years. The sight of a yogi with crops sprouting from his head has left onlookers astonished, making him one of the most talked-about personalities at the Mela.
Anaaj Wale Baba, reportedly a dedicated practitioner of Hatha Yoga, uses his unconventional method to spread a profound message about the environment.
Speaking about his mission, he said, “Deforestation is a growing problem, and I want to inspire people to plant more greenery,” reports Money Control. His commitment to his cause is evident in the meticulous care he provides to his head-grown crops, watering them daily to ensure they thrive.
Currently residing near Kila Ghat during Kalpavas, Baba’s unique approach has drawn large crowds eager to catch a glimpse of his remarkable efforts. He has become an embodiment of eco-consciousness at the Mela, sparking admiration and curiosity among devotees.
Once the Mahakumbh ends, Baba plans to return to Sonbhadra, where he will continue advocating for environmental conservation and peace through his unique methods. His mission goes beyond just growing crops, it’s about planting the seeds of awareness in people’s minds.
The Mahakumbh Mela, held once every 12 years, will run from January 13 to February 26. It is expected to host a staggering 45 crore devotees, making it the largest spiritual gathering in the world.
At the heart of this grand event lies the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. It is believed that a holy dip in these sacred waters cleanses one of the sins and brings liberation (moksha). With its blend of spirituality, culture, and environmental awareness, Mahakumbh 2025 promises to leave a lasting impact on all who attend.
