Brought Peepal Trees from Telangana
Dr. Jain shared with Local18 that he had been planning to plant more than 1,000 peepal trees in Smriti Van for a long time. To make this record possible, he travelled thousands of kilometres to Rajahmundry, Telangana, to source the peepal trees. He said that his initiative was driven by his commitment to nature conservation.
Peepal: A Sacred Tree
According to Dr. Jain, the peepal tree is considered one of the most sacred and auspicious trees in Hindu culture. It offers significant benefits for humans, animals, and birds. Notably, the peepal tree is unique in that it provides oxygen both during the day and at night.
The tree also has numerous Ayurvedic benefits, with every part; leaves, bark, roots, and fruits; having medicinal properties. Peepal leaves, for instance, are known to help detoxify the intestines and promote digestive health. Dr. Jain said he planted these trees to highlight the many benefits of the peepal tree.
