Republic Day 2025: The theme for this year’s parade is ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’. Tableaus from 15 states and Union territories will be showcased at New Delhi’s Kartavya Path.
Republic Day is celebrated in India with great pomp and patriotic zeal on January 26 every year. On this day in 1950, India became a republic after the formal adoption of the Indian Constitution. In 2025, India will celebrate its 76th Republic Day. For the Republic Day celebrations, thousands of people gather along a ceremonial boulevard in the heart of India’s capital to witness a vibrant parade that showcases the nation’s rich cultural heritage and military strength.

Republic Day And The Indian Armed Forces
The Indian Army is set to highlight its push for indigenization on the Kartavya Path on Sunday, January 26, with a display of Indian-made pieces of equipment.
Similar to past Republic Day parades, the display of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, the Akash short-range surface-to-air missile system, and the Nag anti-tank guided missile will be among the main attractions.

According to ThePrint, the Army will also demonstrate the Pinaka rocket launcher. India shipped the first shipment of these systems to Armenia in November 2024. Additionally, the Russian-origin GRAD BM-21 rocket launcher will be on exhibit.
The Army’s battlefield surveillance system, a mobile automated surveillance system that combines data from all battlefield surveillance equipment, will be on display at the parade. According to sources, the parade will also feature the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter-Weapon Systems Integrated (ALH-WSI).
The T-90, BMP-2, and BMP-3 are among the Army tanks that will be taking part in the parade. Additionally, the display will feature a range of vehicles, including the Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar, Light Specialist Vehicles, All-Terrain Vehicles, Specialist Mobility Vehicles, and Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles.

There will also be a 10-meter short-span bridge, horses, and motorcycle exhibits. The Republic Day procession involves all three branches of the military. The Indian Navy and Air Force each have their own tableaux. A variety of planes fly above the Kartavya Path to depict the abilities of the Air Force.
The parade’s theme for this year is ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’.
In 2025, 15 states and union territories will display their tableaus. These feature Chandigarh, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Apart from these, all states and union territories, regardless of their Kartavya Path selection, will be welcome to showcase their tableaus at Red Fort from January 26 to January 31, 2025.
Republic Day: Honouring the Heroes
On Republic Day, the President of India bestows Padma Awards on outstanding civilians, while gallant troops get the Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, and Vir Chakra.
Reportedly, the fourth edition of Project Veer Gatha, a collaborative project of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ministry of Education (MoE), has received a tremendous response across India as part of the Republic Day 2025 celebrations.

One hundred national-level champions, known as the Super-100, were selected from four categories: Preparatory Stage (Grades 3–5), Middle Stage (Grades 6–8), and Secondary Stage, representing schools from across the country.
The winners will be celebrated in New Delhi with a monetary prize of Rs10,000 each and will be special guests at the Republic Day Parade 2025 on Kartavya Path.
Meanwhile, Veer Gatha, which was started as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in 2021, continues to inspire children around the country by instilling patriotism and civic ideals.
The fourth edition of the project prompted students to write essays and paragraphs on their role models, such as Gallantry Award winners, as well as historical issues like independence warriors and tribal uprisings.
Schools held local-level events, and 4,029 best entries were submitted for national evaluation. In addition to national winners, state and district champions will be acknowledged.
