Cloudland at McLemore Resort is a dreamy stay that’s true to its name. The Georgia property was built on the edge of a cliff atop Lookout Mountain and depending on the time of the day, the expansive views from the hotel can make you feel like you’re suspended among the clouds. Watching sunrises and sunsets over McLemore Cove and the Cumberland Plateau is a truly breathtaking experience.
Inside, the 245-room hotel, which is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, takes inspiration from the serenity of the outdoors with wooden floors, stone walls, multiple fireplaces, and large windows to let in natural light. A spacious library has bookcases filled with a wide array of titles, comfy furniture, and board games. Two restaurants offer distinctly different dining experiences: the upscale Auld Alliance serves a French and Scottish-inspired menu for dinner, and Croft is an all-day spot for more casual meals. The Pocket Cafe, a walk-up counter, is good for picking up a sandwich, cup of coffee, or happy hour drink (guests get two free beverages per night).
Things To Do At Cloudland
The resort’s unique location is also what makes it a great golf destination. Two courses are available to hotel guests: the par 71 McLemore Highlands Course, which was designed by Bill Bergin and Rees Jones, and considered one of the best in the state; and a six-hole short course called The Keep that showcases the dramatic landscape.
If you’re not a golfer, you can still experience the beauty of the property on trails that wind around the hotel, offering dramatic vistas and a light hiking experience. Or take a dip in the heated infinity edge pool and hot tub, both of which have gorgeous panoramic views of McLemore Cove. During the warmer months, you can enjoy a cocktail from Skyside, Cloudland’s outdoor bar that’s just steps away.
Selah Spa offers a menu of massages, facials, and other body treatments as well as a sauna with a Himalayan salt wall, a relaxation room, and a cold shower. There is also a well-equipped gym (which includes Peloton bikes) and other fitness activities like yoga classes.
