Born to like, save, and comment on aesthetically curated Galentine’s Day setups on my feed; forced to be a gal who overthinks, procrastinates, and ultimately drops the ball. What can I say… I can’t be good at everything.
I have Pinterest boards upon Pinterest boards of hosting inspo that I’m too busy, financially depleted, and digitally overstimulated to revisit, but, in the spirit of not fully giving up on my dreams, I’m compromising with myself and practicing the mantra that I don’t have to overcomplicate moments to make them feel special. To keep things as low-lift (and as low-budget) as possible, I did what I do best and made a beeline for CVS’s Valentine’s Day aisle to achieve my hosting dreams in one fell swoop. Without further ado: my lazy-girl guide to hosting Galentine’s Day in four easy steps.
1. Set the mood
If you’re still having PTSD from cleaning up your holiday decor, don’t fret. You don’t have to perform a full, seasonal overhaul to your space to nail that romantic, cheeky, cozy ambiance you see in all of that Galentine’s celebration inspo. Coupled with a curated playlist that you can outsource to the group chat or make while scrolling in bed, here’s some CVS Valentine’s decor that brings the vibes and is seamless to incorporate:
2. Serve snacks and drinks
No gathering is made complete without some drinks to toast with and fare to nibble on. Galentine’s Day presents a prime opportunity to lean into the ultimate girl dinner of finger foods presented with a feminine flair (hello ribbon-tied wine glasses), but I challenge you to not overthink it. Have everyone chip in for a heart-shaped pizza that doubles as decor, plate your favorite CVS Valentine’s snacks, and raise a glass (or can) to girlhood.
3. Choose the entertainment
While I might consider “forcing my friends to listen to my (very off-key) acapella rendition of Defying Gravity” to be sufficient on the live entertainment front, I’ve been to enough gatherings and events to know that, even if you’ve just met or have been friends for decades, it’s the little activities that stand out, take some pressure off socializing, and help make the conversation flow. Whether it’s as simple as playing Hearts with a 52-pack of cards or as involved as baking cookies, here are some CVS Valentine’s Day activities to get your wheels turning:
4. Pick your party favors
Party favors are the ultimate hostess metaphor for “sealing it with a kiss.” Keep it simple and cost-effective with to-go containers for them to take home leftover treats, or go the extra mile by gifting them a product you swear by or know they’ll love.
