XO, Kitty 2 star Shin Hojo revealed how BTS, BLACKPINK and Parasite fame transformed the Asian image around the globe.
The actress, who played the supporting role of Kitty’s Korean cousin in season 2 of the hit Korean Netflix series, credited the mega-famous K-pop boy and girl band for bringing Korean entertainment and culture into the spotlight worldwide.
“In the past, Asians were seen as students who only study hard and are shy and obedient,” she put forward her point of view. However, “Since BTS appeared on American music shows, BLACKPINK performed at Coachella, and the movie Parasite swept the Academy Awards, perceptions (about Asians in general and Koreans in particular) have completely changed.”
During her recent interview with a South Korean media outlet, My Daily, Hojo raved about the musical influence, saying, “K-pop is popular all over the world.”
The XO, Kitty actress further expressed her desire to become an actor like Queen of Tears and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay star Kim Soo Hyun, who is active in both Hollywood and Korea.
Hojo will play Ji Won in the upcoming season, adding an extra layer of excitement for viewers.
