Shakira in an Anamika Khanna creation! A historic moment for the designer as it is her first collaboration with a global music star for a world tour. Shakira looked radiant on stage during the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour Kick Off – Rio de Janeiro at Estadio Olímpico Nilton Santos on February 11, 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
A breathtaking fusion of Indian craftsmanship and global pop culture, Shakira performed on stage wearing a custom Anamika Khanna two-piece set featuring a bralette top and flowing layered skirt adorned with delicate threadwork, beads, and Swarovski crystals. The silhouette was brought to life in shades of red including rouge, crimson and scarlet.
The interplay of fiery reds and layered textures symbolised passion, power, and an ode to the hypnotic beats of Ojos Así, a song deeply rooted in Shakira’s diverse musical influences. Designed to reflect the sensuality, power, and fierce energy of the song, Anamika Khanna’s craftsmanship blended beautifully with Shakira’s scintillating live performance.
“To dress Shakira for this moment is an incredible honour. Her music, her artistry, and her presence on stage are magnetic. This look was designed to celebrate her energy – bold yet intricate, powerful yet delicate,” says Anamika Khanna, adding, “We wanted to bring alive the essence of movement, rhythm, and emotion that defines her performance of Ojos Así. This is also a moment for Indian craftsmanship to shine on a truly global stage, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Known for her avant-garde approach to Indian textiles and embroidery, Anamika has long been celebrated for pushing the boundaries of fashion, and this creation is no exception.
Calling Shakira a force of nature, Hema Bhose, founder of Maison Bose and the driving force behind the placement, expresses her joy of seeing the collaboration come to life. “Shakira is a force of nature – an artist who continues to redefine music, culture, and performance. This collaboration with Anamika Khanna represents the perfect synergy of tradition and innovation, where Indian craftsmanship meets global pop spectacle. Seeing Anamika Khanna dress such an iconic musician for a moment like this is a celebration of workmanship on an international scale,” expresses Hema.
Hema also thanks Shakira’s stylist Nicolas Bru for making this collaboration a success. Hema says, “A special thanks to Nicolas Bru, whose extraordinary vision and attention to detail made this collaboration possible. His ability to craft iconic fashion moments for Shakira is unparalleled, and his passion for storytelling through style is truly inspiring.”
Embodying the rich heritage of Indian couture while exuding a contemporary, stage-ready allure, the artistic piece took over 120 Hours. The look is testament to Anamika Khanna’s unparalleled artistry in marrying traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary global fashion.
