Farah Khan, embarrassed her triplets, Czar, Anya, and Diva on February 11, 2008. The filmmaker conceived the children with her husband Shirish Kunder, through in vitro fertilisation, also known as IVF. Recently, Farah broke the silence on her struggle with infertility and IVF on a recent podcast with actor Debinna Bonnerjee.
“Pehle toh main bolungi late pregnancy kyuki meri shaadi hi late hui. I was 40 years old when I got married. Toh waise bhi pregnancy late hi honi thi. (First of all I will say late pregnancy because my marriage got delayed. I was 40 years old when I got married. So anyway, the pregnancy was bound to be late.)” the choreographer said.
Moving on, she also revealed that a gynaecologist told them to try naturally before going through IVF. “Uske baad ek-do saal hum log ne naturally try kiya kyuki hum ek gynaecologist ke paas gaye the and I said ki I am old toh… unhone kaha, ‘Nahi try naturally’, toh naturally nahi ho raha tha. (After a year or two we tried naturally because we went to a gynaecologist and I said I am too old… He said, ‘Don’t try naturally’, it was not happening naturally)” she added.
Take a look here:
Later, she talked about her friend who had twins and told her to consult a gynaecologist the very next day. “Luckily ek friend mill gayi jo abhi thodi older hai, aur she was carrying twins. She said, ‘Listen, tomorrow morning you are just going to this gynaecologist… to this IVF doctor. The next morning we started the IVF. (Luckily a friend of mine was a little older, and she was carrying twins. She said, ‘Listen, tomorrow morning you are just going to this gynaecologist… to this IVF doctor. The next morning we started the IVF).” Farah Khan stated.
The gynaecologist immediately told Farah Khan to go through the IVF without wasting any time. “She said, ‘You have to start today, aap already 2 saal late aa rahe ho mere paas.’ Toh that time I was 42 already, so waha se phir humne IVF ki journey shuru ki. (She said, ‘You have to start today, you are already 2 years late’, So that time I was 42 already, so from there we started the journey of IVF).”
What Is IVF?
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a procedure in which sperm and egg are fertilized in a lab. The embryo, or fertilized egg, is subsequently placed inside the uterus. While many couples struggle to conceive naturally, IVF is considered one of the best methods for treating infertility, which can happen due to low ovarian reserve, a blocked fallopian tube, or a low sperm count.
Things to Keep in Mind Before IVF
- The patient’s age has a significant impact on how well fertility treatments work. As a woman ages, her ovarian reserve declines, which may affect the efficiency of IVF.
- To conceive a successful pregnancy, any underlying medical conditions, such as diabetes or thyroid abnormalities, should be treated before beginning IVF.
- The couple needs to stay away from drug use, alcoholism, and smoking to increase the chances of fertility and the two should embrace healthy lifestyle choices.
- Since IVF is a costly operation, it is essential to comprehend the financial ramifications. The couples should plan appropriately and be aware of the associated expenses
