Chhavi Mittal broke her silence on the trolling she faced for her hair loss due to cancer. The actress who was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2022 took a toll on social media criticism, and called it the ‘death of humanity’. While, Chhavi was declared cancer-free in April 2022, experienced side effects from the treatment, including hot flashes, hair loss, and other health-related issues.
Taking to her Instagram handle, the actress shared a screenshot of a troll’s message, “sir ke baal ud gaye hai apke, treatment karwao.(Your hair has fallen out, get treatment.”
Reacting to the comment, Chhavi wrote, “Today I experienced the death of humanity yet again. I was trolled for hair loss due to my cancer treatment. Let’s take a minute here to mourn this loss once again.” Chhavi faced some inhuman trolling during her fight against cancer, making her journey more difficult.
“For the uninitiated, I fought a battle with Breast Cancer in 2022 and will complete 3 years of the ongoing hormone therapy this April. It’s a 10-year-long treatment. This has a lot of side effects like hot flashes, severe cramping, skin dryness and dehydration, mood swings, weight fluctuations and among all these, hair loss.” she added.

Mittal further revealed that while she was dealing with these health issues, the trollers made it worse. “I cannot even begin to express what hair means to a woman. First I fought to retain my breast, coz that’s part of my womanhood, and now my hair, coz that’s part of it too right? And insensitive comments like these only make things worse.” the caption read.
Later, she asked the trollers to praise her hard work and constant dedication to look ‘fabulous’.
Expert’s Opinion on Hair Loss During Cancer Treatment
According to Dr. Atul Narayankar, consultant medical oncologist at Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road, one of the numerous adverse consequences of cancer treatment is hair loss or thinning.
“It is necessary to accept oneself when one experiences hair loss or thinning. Hormone therapy is a potent instrument that can alter bodily processes, potentially causing shedding and a growth cycle. Hair loss can affect a person’s confidence. But, like the illness, the important thing is to accept these changes. Others ought to have empathy as well,” Dr. Narayankar told the Indian Express.
For the unversed, Chhavi Mittal started her acting career with the television serial, ‘Tumhari Disha’ in 2004. In 2007, she tested her luck in movies like Kaisay Kahein (2007) and EK Vivaah Aisa Bhi (2008).
