For more than 50 years, Dawn has made doing dishes easier—and its new PowerSuds formula takes that convenience even further with extra bubbles to eliminate grease. Researchers at Dawn noticed that typical suds from Dawn Platinum deflated too quickly, which led to grease redepositing on large batches of dishes.
In contrast, PowerSuds removes grime and prevents grease from slicking up other dishes in the sink. (Even plastics come out without any film!) Here are all the sudsy details, including a Dawn-themed tune you can sing along with the next time the dish gloves come out.
Why Dawn Created a New Formula
P&G consumer research found that dishes are still the most loathed household chore, made worse by more fatty, home-cooked meals. Dawn created PowerSuds specifically for a large load of dishes, where some greasy pots and pans might contaminate the water, leading to greasy glasses and bowls that are now harder to clean.
“New Dawn PowerSuds represents the brand’s spirit of innovation and quest to remain the better grease getter, no matter the number of dishes or level of mess,” said brand vice president Angelica Matthews in a press release. “With double the suds and new, one-of-a-kind technology that traps and locks grease so that it doesn’t spread from dish to dish, we’ve designed our best liquid dish soap to meet the real cleaning challenges of today and empower people to finally wash dishes more efficiently.”

What Makes PowerSuds Different?
When compared to Dawn Platinum, PowerSuds has additional ingredients that prevent the redistribution of grease and grime on unwashed dishes. This “Trap & Lock” technology removes up to 99% of grease, then locks it away in two times the suds.
These extra suds stay ultra-clean and white for longer when compared to Dawn Platinum, so the last dish isn’t washed in dirty, non-existent bubbles. PowerSuds also has an “instant-drying action” that prevents water spots, resulting in crystal-clear surfaces.
The soap comes in a refillable EZ-Squeeze bottle that is cap-down (similar to Dawn Platinum), which contributes to less mess around the dispenser.
Sing Along with a Bottle
To celebrate the launch, Dawn collaborated with rapper Charlie Curtis-Beard on the tune “Double the Suds,” which encourages people to sing along at the sink. You can stream the soap-inspired hit on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
“I tried to capture and transform the power and potential of suds into a beat that got people enjoying their time at the sink,” said Curtis-Beard.
Varying sizes of PowerSuds bottles are available nationwide at retail stores or online.
