Miss World is counted as one of the oldest existing international beauty pageants. The prestigious beauty festival began in the UK in the year 1951 and was run by Eric Morley. Following his demise in 2000, his wife, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant. This time, on the 72nd Miss World Pagent, India has been yet again chosen to host the global event. And this selection is a significant milestone underscoring India’s influence and cultural impact on the global platform.
The youngest state of the country, Telangana has been given the opportunity to host the 72nd Miss World Pageant in 2025. The beauty festival will take place from May 7 to May 31 in India, highlighting the state’s rich history and legacy alongside its modern, contemporary vibes. The events will be spread across various destinations in Telangana. Additionally, as per official reports from the Pageant, the opening and closing ceremonies, including the grand finale, have been scheduled to take place in Hyderabad.
For those unaware, the 71st Miss World was held in New Delhi and Mumbai on Julia Morley CBE, and Ms. Smita Sabharwal, Secretary to the Government of Telangana, Tourism, Culture, Heritage and Youth Affairs Department. The post’s caption on behalf of Julia read, “We are thrilled to see the 72nd Miss World Festival taking place in Telangana, India—a land where heritage meets innovation and beauty is celebrated in every form! A heartfelt thank you to Hon’ble CM of Telangana Mr. A. Revanth Reddy for his visionary leadership, unwavering support, and commitment to host us.”
The note continued, “We look forward to an incredible festival, experiencing Telangana’s rich culture, vibrant traditions, and extraordinary art forms, as we celebrate beauty with a purpose on this grand stage.”
This year, the most recognised and oldest-running beauty festival, championing diverse representations of beauty to promote humanitarian causes worldwide, returned to India. Telangana has been chosen for the global contest due to its reputation for safety and tourist friendliness.
Nandini Gupta, who was crowned Femina Miss India World 2023, will be representing India at the global beauty contest. For the unversed, the 21-year-old hailing from Rajasthan had represented her state in the beauty pageant. With her sheer determination, beauty and smartness, she won the title on April 15, 2023, in the contest held in Imphal, Manipur.
As per reports, Ms. Smita Sabharwal, welcomed the Miss World Organization to Telangana, stating, “Telangana is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 72nd Miss World, welcoming the world to witness a land where beauty is not just what meets the eye; it is what resonates with its land, people, culture and traditions.”
